Pac-10 Tennis Preview: Feb. 27, 2009

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Pac-10 men's and women's tennis teams face Conference opponents for the first time this season. In the latest ITA national poll, four men's teams and five women's teams are ranked. In the poll on the men's side are No. 4 USC, No. 5 STANFORD, No. 7 UCLA and No. 23 CALIFORNIA. The women's rankings include No. 3 California, No. 8 UCLA, No. 9 USC, No. 11 Stanford and No. 19 Arizona State.

Opening league play, Cal and Stanford travel to Los Angeles to face UCLA and USC in afternoon match-ups Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28. The Golden Bears will take on the Bruins first before taking their turn against the Trojans, as Stanford will face USC Friday and UCLA Saturday. In non-conference play, Oregon will take on Air Force, Nebraska and Denver in Denver, while Washington heads to Malibu, Calif. to play Michigan and Pepperdine.

On the women's side, Oregon is hosting the Arizona schools to open up league play, while the Washington schools are in Bay Area facing Cal and Stanford. In non-conference action, USC will host Cal Poly on Sunday, March 1 at Noon.
