What to watch for tonight:
Jack Brown goes for the Pac-10 400 individual medley crown
The junior from Atlanta, Ga. will be in the men’s final with the second fastest prelim time this morning. Brown already owns UA second all-time fastest time in the 400 IM with a 3:43.67 mark set in Austin earlier this season. He looks to have a chance at Chad Carvin’s school record in a few weeks at the NCAA’s.
Marcus Titus trying to shave more ticks off his Arizona school record in 100 breaststroke
This morning Titus lowered his Arizona school record in the 100 breaststroke by two hundredths of a second, down to 52.59. If Titus is to win tonight’s 100 breast Pac-10 title, look for that number to lower significantly.
Jean Basson, Round two
Basson, who last night won the 500 freestyle Pac-10 title from lane one, will give the 200 freestyle championship a shot. The Johannesburg native swam the fourth fastest time in prelims this morning and if last night was any indication, Basson saves his best for the finals. At the Beijing Olympics, Basson placed fourth overall in the 200 meter finals.
Another Automatic Qualifying Relay?
So far during the Pac-10 Championships, Arizona is three-for-three when talking about achieving NCAA auto qualifying times for the championships held in College Station, Texas. Tonight the men will try to make it four in a row with the 400 medley relay.
