Browne and Murphy Fall in Quarterfinals at Doubles Tourney

LA JOLLA, Calif. - California men's tennis assistant coach Tyler Browne and freshman Tommie Murphy took their fourth seed and advanced to the quarterfinals at the 120th Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championship today at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club by defeating Ilja Orre and Dominic Pagon of William and Mary, 6-3, 7-5. There, the Golden Bear tandem fell in an upset to ninth-seeded Nick Meister and Haythem Abid of UCLA in two sets, 6-1, 6-1.
The California men's tennis team returns to action in dual matches this week as the Bears face the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Tuesday (March 10) in a match scheduled to begin not before 1:30 p.m. The No. 7-ranked women's tennis team takes on No. 5 Baylor in a 10 a.m. match the same day. Both matches will take place at the Hellman Tennis Complex with live video available via CalBears.com.
