Husky Men Ready For Lexus Classic

FRESNO, Calif. -- The No. 15 Husky men's golf team begins play at the Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic at 8 a.m., Monday morning at the Belmont Country Club.
Of the 20 schools participating in the two-day tournament, which will feature 36 holes on day one, just the Dawgs and No. 9 Arizona State are ranked in Golfweek's top 25. The Huskies features two a pair of top 50 players in juniors Richard Lee (No. 21) and Nick Taylor (No. 34). Lee has finished in the top 10 in five of the Huskies' six tournament thus far this season, and Taylor has earned medalist honors in two of the five collegiate tournaments in which he has played.
Also in the Huskies' lineup are juniors Darren Wallace and Chris Killmer. Wallace is making his second start for the Dawgs, while Killmer has been in the lineup all year. Killmer, a junior from Bellingham, Wash., won the Husky Invitational this past September. Freshman Ty Chambers will also be making his second start of the 2008-09 season. Along with Wallace, Chambers was penciled into the Dawgs lineup two weeks ago for the Huskies' sixth-place finish at the USC Collegiate.
The rest of the field is Boise State University, BYU, California State-Bakersfield, California State-Northridge, Fresno City College, Fresno State, Hawai'i, Nevada, Oklahoma, Pacific, Sacramento State, San Diego State, San Jose State, University of Texas-El Paso, UC Davis, UC Irvine and UC Santa Babara.
Live scoring will be available for the Fresno State Classic on golfstat.com. There will be a shotgun start, with the University of Washington beginning on holes 1-5. They will be paired with players from Arizona State, University of Texas-El Paso and tournament host, Fresno State.
