March 9, 2009
Four men and one woman will represent the UCLA Bruins at the 2009 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship on Friday and Saturday in College Station, TX as the participant field was announced on Monday evening.
Representing the men's squad will be hurdler Kevin Craddock, pole vaulter Johnny Quinn, shot putter Bo Taylor and weight thrower Boldizsar Kocsor. Craddock is the 14th and final hurdler invited into the meet (7.79). Quinn has the sixth-best vault in the country this season (17-8). Taylor ranks 13th in the shot put with a best mark of 61-3.50 and Kocsor ranks sixth in the weight (70-10.75).
Kocsor was an indoor All-American last season as he placed seventh in the weight. This will be the first NCAA Indoor meet for Quinn, Craddock and Taylor.
Rhonda Watkins, the 2007 NCAA indoor and outdoor long jump champion, will represent the Bruin women as she heads to the meet ranked fifth with a mark of 21-3.25.
Watkins will compete on Friday along with Quinn, Taylor and Craddock. On Saturday, Kocsor and Craddock (if he advances to the final) are slated to compete.
