WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon State junior Mandi Rodriguez and freshman Leslie Mak garnered Pac-10 Gymnast of the Week and Pac-10 Special Performance of the Week accolades, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today. The honors are for the week of March 3-9. After career nights and a combined five event victories by the tandem, the Beavers finished the night with the team's third-highest score in school history (197.500) and third-best team performance in the nation this season.

Rodriguez, of Baldwin Park, Calif., had an incredible night last Friday, lighting up the scoreboard against WASHINGTON and Seattle Pacific. In front of a home crowd of 4,187 fans, she tallied the eighth-highest all-around score in Oregon State history, a career-high 39.600. In addition to the indi-vidual title in the all-around, she added event titles on vault (9.925) and floor (9.95). The scores mark the fifth time on both apparatuses this season that Rodriguez has landed a 9.925 on vault and met or exceeded the 9.95 total on floor. Besides the consistency Rodriguez boasted on her two specialty events, she also tied her lifetime best on beam (9.85) and established a season-high 9.875 on bars.

Only two weeks after suffering a loss to Washington in Seattle, the Beavers were motivated for Senior Night and Mak earned the biggest score of all. On a night that saw Mak move into the anchor spot of the bars lineup for the first time in collegiate action, she flirted with perfection by earning a career-best score of 9.975 and the event title. The Toronto, Ont., product came back in the next rotation with a personal-best 9.925 on the balance beam. It was the top meet mark on the apparatus. Mak now joins Rodriguez in the top 5 individual national rankings courtesy of a No. 4 standing on uneven bars. Her high score places Mak in the exclusive company of only five gymnasts in the country who have matched or bested 9.975 on the apparatus this season.

The Pac-10 nod is Rodriguez's fourth this season. She has twice claimed both Gymnast of the Week and Special Performance of the Week. Mak has won her honor three times this season.
