No. 19 Arizona tops Memphis, 7-0

The No. 19 Arizona men's tennis team continued its winning ways, defeating Memphis 7-0 Wednesday afternoon at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center to capture its ninth straight win.
The Wildcats (11-1) captured their second 7-0 win of the season behind a tough doubles point and a singles sweep.
In singles play, every Wildcat player won the first set of their respective matches.
On his way to his 12th win in 12 matches, freshman Jason Zafiros clinched the Arizona victory with a 6-4, 6-3 win over the Tigers' Michael Hayes in the No. 5 spot.
In the No. 3 match, junior Ravid Hazi was the first Arizona player to pick up a win, beating Memphis' Leon Nasemann 6-3, 6-4.
Playing in the No. 1 spot, junior Andres Arango defeated Jorge Vasquez 7-6, 7-5.
Sophomore Andres Carrasco used a pair of 6-2 wins to take down Benedikt Fischer in the No. 2 spot.
Two Arizona players went to tiebreaker to finish the match. Junior Pat Metham beat Charlie Ramsey 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 in the No. 4 spot, while Freshman Ola Bakke got by Michael Gaethoeffner 6-3, 4-6, 10-8.
Arizona's No.1 pair, Metham and Senior Francois VanderMerwe (ranked No. 55), sealed the doubles point for the Wildcats beating the Tigers' pair of Vazquez and Spencer Heflin 9-7 in a tough battle.
In the No.2 double match, Arizona's Arango and Carrasco beat Memphis's Fisher and Jordan Smith 8-2 to put the Wildcats up for the doubles point.
The Wildcats barely missed sweeping the double point when No. 3 pair of Hazi and Bakke lost the tiebreaker to Hayes and Ramsey of Memphis 9-8 (3).
Arizona continues play Saturday when it hosts Cal Poly at noon at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
