Arizona to compete in Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship

TUCSON, Ariz.- The Arizona Men's Golf Team will participate in the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship, beginning tomorrow, March 13, with tee times at 8 a.m. PST. The tournament is held at Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev., a par 72, 7,510 yard course.
Host UNLV won the event last year with an 869 (+5) shot total. Individually, Rory Hie of USC edged out Hudson Swafford of Georgia and Jonas Enander Hedin of Charlotte in a sudden death playoff for the victory. Swafford will compete again this year. Arizona finished in a tie for tenth and was lead by Tarquin MacManus who finished tied for 21st.
Arizona stayed put in the latest Golf Week collegiate rankings following their third place performance a week ago at the Braveheart Invitational; the Cats are ranked 50th. Arizona faces some tough competition in the event. All 15 teams are ranked inside the top 55, with 6 of the 15 residing in the top 10. The teams (with their rankings) are: Arizona (50), Arizona State (8), Auburn (51), California (22), Charlotte (55), Clemson (4), Florida (6), Georgia (1), Georgia Tech (10), Oklahoma State (3), Texas (14), Texas A&M (25), UCLA (21), UNLV (31) and USC (2).
