USC Track And Field To Compete At Northridge Invitational

LOS ANGELES - The USC Trojans men's and women's track and field team will be competing March 13-14 at the Northridge Invitational in Northridge, Calif. Also, high jumper Manjula Wijesekara qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships which will be held March 13-14 in College Station, Texas.
LAST WEEK AT FULLERTON - USC won 10 events at the Ben Brown Invitational in Fullerton, Calif. led by Colin Campbell's win in the discus (184-2) and Trey Henderson's win in the hammer (210-4). Both set new PRs. Eva Orban won the hammer throw (221-4) and Shea Wickland won the women's 10000m race with the third-fastest time is USC history (36:16.00). Women posting top times on the day were Elizabeth Olear in the 100m (11.84), Myra Hasson in the 400m (54.21) and the 4x100m (45.93) and 4x400m (3:44.60) relays. Men posting top times were Joey Hughes in the 400m (47.22) and Blake Shaw in the 1500m (3:49.50).
LAST CHANCE, LAST WEEK - Manjula Wijesekara cleared 7-2 1/4 in the high jump and qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships at the Washington Last Chance Indoor Meet in Seattle, Wash. He will attempted to earn Indoor All-America honors this weekend at the NCAA Indoor Championships being hosted by Texas A&M. Shalina Clarke ran a 8.41 time in the hurdles and Oscar Spurlock ran a 7.92 to win the men's hurdles, but neither athlete qualified for the NCAA Indoors. Derek Scott cleared 16-6 in the pole vault and Brysun Stately no-heighted.
NEXT WEEK - The Trojans' track and field team will host their second home meet of the season at Loker Stadium on March 21 when they hold the annual Trojan Invitational. The full meet begins at 9 a.m. and will include track and field powerhouse Texas A&M, as well as featuring the L.A. City High School Relay Championships.
