Art Venegas Named MPSF Men's Track & Field Coach Of The Year

UCLA men's track and field head coach Art Venegas has been named the 2009 MPSF Men's Coach of the Year, the MPSF announced on Thursday. Venegas earned the honor after having led the Bruin men to an upset win at the MPSF Indoor Championships February 27-28 in Seattle, WA.

The Bruins won the MPSF team title with 85.5 points, 28.5 of which came from the pole vault alone. Venegas' throwers also picked up major team points, scoring 19 in the throwing events.

Venegas is in his 10th year as head coach with the Bruins and 28th year on staff at UCLA. He coached the men's team to four consecutive MPSF team titles from 2002-2005.
