2009 State Farm Pac-10 Tournament: Game Seven Notes

This was the third Cal-USC game this season decided by two points.
USC will appear in the Tournament’s title game for the first time. The Women of Troy are now 17-14 on the season and 6-7 in the Tournament.
USC will be the lowest seeded team to appear in the Tournament championship game. It will try to duplicate the feat of the USC men’s team in winning an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
The Women of Troy snapped an eight game losing streak vs. the Golden Bears; their last win was on Feb. 20, 2005 (103-69)
After failing to beat a ranked team this season prior to this Tournament, USC has done so twice in two days (beat #16 ASU 70-65).
For the 8th time in 8 years, the #2 seed will not win the Tournament.
USC never trailed in the game.
Cal and USC had not previously met in the Tournament.
Cal missed its first 4 field goal attempts while committing 5 turnovers as USC, despite shooting 2 of 9 from the field, took an early 4-0 lead.
In the two regular season games between these teams, USC never led by more than 3 points. The Trojans took an 11 (29-18) with 2:47 to go in the 1st half.
Cal closed to within two points at 67-65 (:27) and 69-67 (:15.5).
USC guard Camille LeNoir scored in double figures for the 2nd time in the Tournament and 22nd of the season. Her 25 points were the 6th best in a Tournament semifinal round game. 21 of those points came in the 2nd half.
Cal F/C Ashley Walker recorded her team-high 12th double-double of the year (and 2nd of the Tournament) with 12:09 left in the game when she garnered her 10th rebound. She now has 46 career double-doubles.
Walker’s 29 points were the 5th most (tie) in a Tournament game and 2nd best (tie) in a semifinal round game.. Her 15 boards were 2nd (tied) most in a semifinal game and 4th (tie) in a Tournament game.
After registering only 3 double-digit scoring efforts in the previous 30 games this season, USC guard Hailey Dunham scored 10 points in the first half (5-7 from the field). She finished with 12.
USC attempted its first free throw at 15:09 of the 2nd half (Camille LeNoir).
Cal’s halftime deficit was its season high. Cal is now 5-4 when trailing at the half this year.
Walker reached the 20-point total for the 17th time this season and 35th time in her career.
Devanei Hampton had 18 points and 13 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season.
Today marked the second time this season both Devanei Hampton and Ashley Walker had double-doubles in the same game. They also accomplished the feat vs. USC in Berkeley on Jan. 31 (Hampton (17-11; Walker 21-11).
