No. 19 Arizona finishes 2nd in Maryland

In its final regular season meet of the season, the Arizona gymnastics team finished second in a four-team meet Saturday afternoon in Maryland and head coach Bill Ryden earned his 150th career win.
The Wildcats finished the meet with a 195.300 score, beating host Maryland and Yale, but falling to Penn State, who recorded a 196.125.
The Wildcats won two team events on vault and floor, but couldn't get the overall win.
'The scores weren't indicative of the type of meet we had,' said Ryden. 'This was a great effort and I was happy with how they performed.'
For the first time this season, Arizona started on beam but struggled to a team score of 48.275 where freshman Britnie Jones who scored 9.75. The Wildcats finished third in the meet.
On floor, the team recorded a 48.975 behind junior Sarah Tomczyk's 9.875 and scored the meet's highest team score. Tomczyk's 9.875 was the second-highest of the meet, while the Wildcats won the event for the team.
The Wildcats had one of their best meets of the season on vault, leading the meet with a high score of 49.275. Senior Bree Workman won the event with a 9.9, followed closely by sophomore Colleen Fisher's 9.875 and 9.85's by Tomczyk and freshman Deanna Graham.
Fisher was the only Wildcat to compete in the all-around, registering a 39.15 to finish third in the meet.
The Wildcats head into the post-season, starting at the Pac-10 Championships next weekend at Palo Alto Saturday, March 21st.
'It's a good thing going into the Pac-10's,' said Ryden. 'We still haven't put together a perfect meet, so it could be interesting if we compete to our ability.'
