Stanford and Boise State Tip-off the 2009 College Basketball Invitational

Making its 16th consecutive postseason appearance, the Stanford Cardinal is underway this evening in its College Basketball Invitational (CBI) first round game at Maples Pavilion against the visiting Boise State Broncos. First year head coach Johnny Dawkins has Stanford off to a quick start in his postseason debut, as Boise State was forced to call a timeout just 1:05 into the contest. At the 14:46 mark and the first mandatory timeout, the Cardinal has doubled up the Broncos, 18-9.

All five of Stanford's five starters have scored, while senior forward Lawrence Hill and junior forward Landry Fields lead the way with five each.

Stanford opened the contest with seniors Mitch Johnson and Anthony Goods in the backcourt, while junior sophomore Josh Owens joined Hill and Fields upfront. Boise State countered with a three-guard lineup of senior Jamar Greene, junior Anthony Thomas and senior Aaron Garner, along with junior forward Ike Okoye and senior forward Mark Sanchez.
