CORVALLIS – Due to injuries and illness, only four runners are competing for the Oregon State women’s track team this weekend, Saturday, March 21, in Eugene, Ore. at the Oregon Preview.
“We have run into a lot of women getting sick and getting injured,” head coach Kelly Sullivan said. “Instead of doing anything crazy and ignore that we have aches and pains, we are going to let our athletes get healthy through this weekend and let them get on their spring break while just running the four.”
More than 50 collegiate and club teams are scheduled to be represented at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field. Oregon State has runners in the 800-meters, 1,500-meters and 3,000-meters.
“All four of them are in great shape. Rebecca is the only one who has raced outdoors. The other three haven’t had an outdoor race yet. As long as they don’t get sick between now and Saturday, I expect them to run well at the Preview.”
The 1,500-meters kicks off the racing for the Beavers scheduled for 1:15 p.m.
