Men's Golf Heads South For Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championship

STANFORD, Calif. - Following last month's win at the USC/Ashworth Collegiate Invitational, the fourth-ranked Stanford men's golf team will be back on the links this Sunday, March 22 in the Callaway Collegiate Match Play Championships at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

No. 18 Steve Ziegler, No. 76 Sihwan Kim, Daniel Lim, No. 78 David Chung, and Dodge Kemmer will represent the Cardinal this weekend. Ziegler is coming off of his first career individual title, won at the USC/Ashworth Collegiate Invitational.

Stanford is part of a 16-team field, which includes three other top-ten teams (No. 8 Alabama, No. 9 Texas Tech, and No. 10 Indiana). Eight others register in the top-50 (No. 26 Florida State, No. 29 Arizona State, No. 31 UCLA, No. 32 Chattanooga, No. 35 Texas A&M, No. 37 San Diego State, No. 43 Duke, No. 46 Louisville), while the four other teams settle into the top-100 (No. 55 UC Irvine, No. 59 Charlotte, host No. 69 San Diego, and No. 71 Middle Tennessee State).

Play begins Sunday morning at 8:15 a.m. with a shotgun start in first-round medal matches. Stanford is grouped with Florida State, Texas A&M and UCLA, and will begin on holes 10-13. The second medal round matches will start at approximately 1:30 p.m. that same day.

The top eight finishing teams from medal play will advance to the championship bracket while teams nine through 16 will compete in the consolation bracket. Team victories are determined by the team that wins the most individual matches.
