Second Day of Prelims of Complete at NCAAs

COLLEGE STATION, TX - Six more preliminary swimming events are complete in the second day of the 2009 NCAA Championship at the Student Rec Center Natatorium on Friday. The Golden Bears have a relay team and six individuals advancing to Championship finals.
Although she did not advance to the Championship final, Heather White swam a personal-best 4:12.12 in the 400-yard IM.
The Bears helped themselves in the 100-yard butterfly, advancing three swimmers to the Championship final, including top finisher Amanda Sims, who clocked a personal-best 51.12. Dana Vollmer followed in second (51.30) and Hannah Wilson in fourth (51.60).
In the following heat, Vollmer clocked an NCAA Championship meet record time of 1:42.63 in the 200-yard freestyle - securing the top spot for the Championship final. Vollmer already owns the NCAA, American and U.S. Open records with her time of 1:41.53 set at the 2009 Pac-10 Championship in February. The previous NCAA Championship meet record was held by SMU's Martina Maracova (1:43.08) back in 1997.
Sara Isakovic also advanced to the 200 free Championship final with a time of 1:43.43.
Ellis placed 16th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a personal-best time of 1:00.36.
Rogers advanced to the Championship final of the 100-yard backstroke after clocking a time of 51.92.
