Three Gymnast Named to Pac-10 All-Academic Teams

March 20, 2009

Three members of the Arizona State women's gymnastics team have been named to the Pacific-10 All-Academic teams, announced by Commissioner Tom Hansen. To be eligible for selection to an academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be a starter or significant contributor. Mary Atkinson, Nicole Harris and Brittany Schuett were each recognized for their outstanding work in the classroom along with the gym.

Harris and Schuett received first-team honors. Harris, one of the conference's top all-arounders, currently carries a 3.49 in Spanish. Schuett held the honor of having the top GPA in the conference with a 4.04 in Speech and Hearing Science. Harris and Schuett are the first Sun Devils named to the first-team since Kari Muth in 2005.

Atkinson received second-team honors. The sophomore Biochemistry major currently holds a 3.58 GPA. She is also a member of ASU's prestigious Barrett Honors College.

The Sun Devils will compete in the Pac-10 Championships tomorrow.
