Cal Concludes 2008-09 Season at Pac-10 Championship

The California Golden Bears women's gymnastics team closed out the 2009 season, scoring 191.750 at the Pac-10 Championships Saturday night at Stanford. The Bears finished in seventh place out of seven teams in the conference.
The Bears' top performer once again was senior Bridgette Glass. Glass scored above a 9.8 on both of her performances. Glass garnered a 9.850 for her beam routine, ranking seventh in the event, the lone top-10 performance for the Bears. Glass' 9.800 on the bars put her in a tie for 12th place.
Sophomore Avery Gee was the top score for the Bears on the floor with a 9.700. Her top mark of the night was on the beam, where she rated a 9.775.
Junior Sophia Hocini was the top finisher in the all-around. Hocini ranked 12th, posting a score of 38.650. Hocini's top mark was on the vault, where she scored a 9.750. She posted a 9.600 on the bars, 9.700 on the beam, and a 9.600 on the floor.
The season for the Bears as a whole team wrapped up at Stanford, but the Bears still have several individuals vying for invitations to the NCAA West Regionals. The roster of teams and athletes earning regional invitations will be announced this coming Tuesday, March 24.
