Corvallis, Ore. -

Former Oregon State University track standout and Olympic Gold Medalist Dick Fosbury has been named one of the inaugural honorees of OSU’s College of Business (COB) Entrepreneurs and Innovators Recognition ceremony.  The event will be held Sat., April 4 in the Club Level at Reser Stadium beginning at 5 p.m.

Fosbury revolutionized the sport of high jumping in the late 1960s by introducing the “Fosbury Flop.”  The two-time NCAA champion captured the gold medal in 1968 in Mexico City.  He is a member of the USA Track and Field, State of Oregon Sports and Oregon State Sports Halls of Fame.

Fosbury is also the current President of the World Olympians Association, an organization that promotes internationally the values of the Olympic Games.

In conjunction with the recognition ceremony, the COB will be celebrating the 80th birthday of the recently remodeled Weatherford Hall and the fifth anniversary of the Austin Entrepreneurship Program (AEP).

To be a part of the festivities please RSVP to Mary McKillop, events coordinator for the AEP, by Wed., March 26 at mary.mckillop@oregonstate.edu or call 541-713-8044.  Cost of the business formal event is $50 or a table of eight for $350.

“This will be a celebration short on speeches and long on fun, a time to relive Weatherford memories and recognize those individuals who are moving the world forward,” McKillop said.  “There will also be a big surprise at the evening’s end you won’t want to miss.”

The list of honorees also includes Ken and Joan Austin, founders of Austin Dental Equipment Company; John Gardner, Ph.D., founder and president of ViewPlus Technologies; Kyle Doyel, president and CEO of Kyzen Corporation; Kaichang Li, Ph.D., associate professor in the Department of Wood Science and Engineering in the College of Forestry.
