Breaking It Down With Bailey
March 25, 2009
The day before our New Mexico home series...at practice Glasoe ate a worm. He's such a beast.
This weekend was so incredibly cold. The wind just whipped through the stadium like mad!
Saturday's games were very interesting. In the first game, in which we won 14-3 in five innings, we had several home runs and hit the ball great! Pretty much everyone contributed and that's important that we have so much depth. In the evening game, it was much different. They brought in a different pitcher than the two that pitched in the first game and we had a little trouble figuring her out for the first few innings. We ran ourselves into outs and killed rallies pretty easily with that. But we came out on top when the pitcher began to struggle in the bottom of the 8th inning. She couldn't find the strike zone and we ended up on the winning end. It's never very much fun to win a game like that, but a win is a win and we realized that we needed to put that game away earlier.
Sunday was even colder than Saturday, but the rain stayed away once again! In our final game against a scrappy and aggressive New Mexico team, it was a little too close in the beginning but we stepped it up in the end and put up a few more insurance runs to gain yet another victory.
This upcoming weekend we are looking to kick butt in the Bay. Cal and Stanford are both top-10 teams who are going to come out ready to play. It's going to be very important for us to be in every game and get a couple victories this weekend. We just need to continue taking it one pitch at a time and focusing on what we want to accomplish. People are going to have to keep stepping up and keep bringing energy. The Pac-10 is a completely new season and we have a lot of fun to look forward to.
Stay classy and GO TEAM PURP!
