Cal Baseball Defeats Santa Clara, 9-6

BERKELEY, CALIF. - Cal scored twice in the third inning and then exploded for seven runs in the fourth inning on the way to a 9-6 victory over Santa Clara Wednesday afternoon at Evans Diamond. The Golden Bears improved to 13-8 overall and the Broncos dropped to 10-8. The winning pitcher for Cal was sophomore right-hander Yasser Clor, who improved his record to 3-0 by throwing a career-high 5.1 innings with six hits, four runs, one earned run, two walks and two strikeouts. Sophomore right-hander Kevin Miller earned his first collegiate save by throwing the final 3.2 innings (five hits, two runs, one earned run, one walk, two strikeouts). Sophomore right fielder Mark Canha, who is leading the Bears with a .398 average, had a two-run single in the third, while senior third baseman Michael Brady, sophomore shortstop Brian Guinn, junior first baseman Blake Smith, junior second baseman Jeff Kobernus, freshman left fielder Danny Oh and junior catcher Dylan Tonneson all had RBI in the fourth inning.
