Mills-Bunje in Fourth in Day One of UC Davis Multi Event

DAVIS, Calif. -
Sophomore Kyle Mills-Bunje led the way for California in the decathlon in the UC Davis Multi Meet on Wednesday at the Woody Wilson Track. Mills-Bunje stands in fourth place (3,586 points) after day one of the competition, while freshman Kevin Kuechler (2,675 points) is in 13th. Current Cal volunteer assistant coach, Mark Jellison, is in first place with 3,825 points.
Mills-Bunje excelled in the three field events, taking second in the high jump with a mark of 6-4.75 (1.95m), the long jump at 6.85m and fourth in the shot put at 39-7.25 (12.07m). Mills-Bunje just missed matching his career high in the high jump, which currently is 1.96m.
Jellison, competing unattached, currently stands in first with Fresno State's Matt Bushnell in second with 3,641 points and Jake Nelson from Chico State in third with 3,599 points.
The Bears will compete in the second day of the UC Davis Multi Event tomorrow at Woody Wilson Track. Cal will also compete this week in the Stanford Invitational from March 27-28.
