Getting a Grip with Jereme Bigelow
March 27, 2009
Hello Beaver fans!
Well, we are just coming off an amazing trip to Pac-10s, at Stanford, in California, where many of us, including myself are able to call our first home. Friday was our practice day and we were scheduled for the 12:00 session with UCLA, Stanford and Arizona. Practice could not have gone better for your Beavs!
We started off with a lot of energy and carried it through until the end. We all looked very confident and calm on all four events and everyone knew exactly what was needed to get done to be ready for the big event the next day! Saturday was Pac-10s and we knew it was going to be great showdown. All of the teams came out fighting and after we had shaken off our nerves from the first event (beam) we marched back into the stadium from our bye and took control. Stephanie McGregor started off the floor line-up in her usual consistent, solid fashion and after her performance we never looked back. Each routine built off of one and other and each rotation grew stronger and stronger until we came to the end, hearts and voices left out on the floor. We had given all we had; we relied on our great training throughout the year and finished the meet extremely successful and proud of each other's performances.
The night would not have been as successful without our great fans behind us the whole meet. They came loud, spirited and showed us a tremendous amount of support!
Our team never misses a beat and we were back in the gym on Monday (Spring Break may I add!) ready to focus on details and clean up any loose ends. This week of training has not gone by without any laughs or fun times. Our team is filled with a great sense of humor and Tuesday was designated as crazy hair day, and Thursday was our weekly class day, where each class dresses the same, whether it be as simple as same workout tops or as creative as 80's workout girls or day at the beach! Of course, we did find time to train in between our fun, as we like to say, 'Play Hard, Work Hard,' we have not forgotten about our goals for the rest of season. Postseason is now here and your Beaver Gymnastic Team 2009 cannot wait to show the rest of the country who we are, and what we have become this year!
I believe I can speak for the entire team when saying that the support this year whether at home or away meets has been magical. We put the hard work in to give you, the fans, something to cheer about and when it all comes back, we are cheering for you guys also. Home meets are something we look forward to weeks in advance and it is because of Beaver Nation!
Thank you all so much and we are here to keep giving you fans something to cheer about!
Until next time,
