The quest for a fourth All-American accolade began today for UA senior Shevell Quinley as she finds herself in fourth place after the first day of the combined event competion at the annual Jim Click Shootout.  The combined event portion of the meet, hosted by the UA track and field team, will conclude tomorrow at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.

This year's competition in the women's heptathlon is as competitive as ever as five All-American's are in the mix including Gayle Hunter of Penn State, Liz Roehrig of Minnesota, Megan Wheatley and Chantae McMillan of Nebraska and Quinley for the No. 22 UA women's squad.

Quinley kicked off the after competition with a fifth place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.19 seconds.  She followed this by finishing third in the high jump event with a mark of 1.66m (5-5 1/4).  Quinley maintained her consistency by finishing fifth in the shot put with a best toss of 11.37m (37-3 3/4) and finished in 25.52 in the final event of the day, the 200-meter dash.

Quinley will look to jump up a couple positions tomorrow in the second half of the heptathlon, but more importantly she would like to get the NCAA automatic qualifying score of 5,500 points to take the weight of qualifying for Nationals off of her shoulders.  After one day of competition, Quinley has a score of 3,217.

Also in competition on the first day was the UA's Chris McGovern in the men's decathlon.  McGovern currently sits ninth after five events.

The rest of the Wildcat team will take to the track on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.  the meet will pit the Pac-10, Big-10 and Big-12 Conferences against each other as two teams from each conference will team together for a combined score on both the men's and women's side to determine a conference winner rather than an individual team winner.  Arizona will pair with Washington against Kansas and Nebraska of the Big-12 and Wisconsin and Penn State of the Big-10.
