The No. 8-ranked California women's tennis team (14-4, 5-1 Pac-10) defeated Arizona (10-7, 1-4 Pac-10) in a 7-0 sweep of all nine courts today at the Hellman Tennis Complex. Freshman Stephany Chang claimed her 26th singles win in a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Debora Castany at court six to help the Golden Bears to their third consecutive victory.

Cal went ahead early as it won the doubles point for the 12th time this season. The Bears' No. 6-ranked duo of freshman Jana Juricova and sophomore Mari Andersson gave no quarter as they walked away with an 8-0 win over No. 76-ranked Natasha Marks and Claire Rietsch at the top court. At No. 2 doubles, the 20th-ranked team of sophomore Marina Cossou and senior Claire Ilcinkas sealed the doubles point for Cal with an 8-3 win over Sarah Landsman and Danielle Steinberg. At court three, senior Bojana Bobusic teamed with Chang to get an 8-3 win of their own against Jane Huh and Ariane Masschelein.

In singles, senior Marion Ravelojaona snapped a five-match streak with a quick 6-0, 6-2 win over Huh at court five to put the Bears ahead, 2-0. No. 21-ranked Bobusic came off the courts next as she posted a 6-4, 6-0 victory against Landsman at No. 3 singles to push the Bears out to a 3-0 lead. With the win, Bobusic recorded her 31st singles win of the year, including a 17-1 mark in dual matches.

Chang came off next with her win over Castany at the sixth court to give Cal the nod. No. 10-ranked Juricova got her 31st singles win of the year as well when she finished off No. 94-ranked Steinberg at the top singles court, 6-0, 6-3. Steinberg surrendered a quick first set but made things interesting as she stayed with Juricova for a two-all tie and just a 4-3 deficit in the second. No. 47-ranked Ilcinkas finished next as she defeated Masschelein, 6-4, 6-2 at the fourth singles court to put Cal out in front, 6-0; and No. 42-ranked Andersson came off the courts last with her 6-3, 6-4 win over Marks at No. 2 singles to complete the day for Cal with nine wins.

The Bears stay at home for a match against Oregon (9-9, 1-4 Pac-10) next Saturday, April 11, at noon before hosting Pepperdine (9-9) on Easter Sunday, April 12, at noon. Both matches will feature live webcasts from each court. Visit the CalBears.com women's tennis page for links.
