Washington State claimed a 2-1 lead after scoring one pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Weber-Shapiro belted his first home run as a Bruin, a solo shot into the trees above the 375-foot sign in right-center field, to cut Washington State's lead to 3-2 in the top of the sixth.
Both teams traded late solo home runs. Prince's solo blast in the bottom of the eighth extended the Cougars' lead to 4-2. Pinch-hitter Cody Decker belted a solo homer to left-center field in the top of the ninth, trimming UCLA's deficit to 4-3.
