Men's Golf Heads to Cowboy Classic

The Oregon State men’s golf team travels this week to Scottsdale, Ariz. for the Wyoming Cowboy Classic presented by Cleveland Golf. The Classic is a two day, 56-hole event, April 6-7 at the Talking Stick Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
The event will be played on the North Course of the Talking Stick Golf Club which measures in at 7,133 yards and plays to a par of 70.
Wyoming, Arizona, Boise State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Idaho, Northwestern, Old Dominion, Oregon State, San Diego, San Diego State, San Jose State, Southern Utah, Texas, UC Davis, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, Pacific, Utah UTEP, Weber State and Western Carolina.
Last Year at the Cowboy
The Beavers finished third last year at the Cowboy with a final score of 839 (283-297-277). Paul Peterson had the best score last year for the Beavers, a 7-under par 203 (67-67-69).
Last Time out For OSU
Oregon State competed last week at the 63rd Annual Western Intercollegiate and finished sixth as a team with a score of 888 (306-292-290). Junior Diego Velasquez stole the show with his second win of the 2008-09 season. He finished at even par with a final score of 210 (74-66-70).

Two for the Show
Velasquez’s second win of the season marked the first time a Beaver has won two events in the same season since the 1999-2000 season when Anthony Arvidson won both the Northwest Classic and the Duck Invitational. It is only the fourth time it has happened in school history. Only Warren Vickers has won more than two events in the same season. Vickers won three events in the 1988-89 season
