Cougars in Second at Cardinal Classic

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. - The Washington State women's golf team is in second place after the first day of the Canes & Cardinal Classic held at the par-72, 6,223-yard, Don Shula Golf Resort.
The Cougars posted a 298 (+10) during the opening round and followed it up with a 305 during the afternoon round. They will head into the final round 12 strokes behind No. 21 San Jose State.
'It was a great team effort,' said assistant coach Heather Holte. 'The wind picked up quite a bit during the second round and we did a good job of adapting.'
WSU was led by two freshmen who both finished the first day inside the top 10. Kristen Allard carded a 73 (+1) during the first round on her way to a two-round total of 148. The performance landed her in a three-way tie for fifth going into the final round.
Fellow freshman Andrea Rosete finished second for the Cougars with a total of 150 (+6) on the day. She sits in a tie for ninth after two rounds and will look to notch the first top-10 finish of her career during the closing round tomorrow.
Senior Amy Eneroth finished close behind with a tournament total of 152 (+8). Eneroth will start the third round in a tie for 17th. A top-25 finish for the tournament would be her fifth consecutive, and would mark the 36th of her career.
Concluding the Cougar squad is freshman Lauren Howell and senior Jessica Black. The two finished just outside the top 25 in a tie for 26th and a tie for 33rd, respectively. Howell posted a 77 (+5) during both of her rounds while Black carded a two-round total of 155 (+11).
