No. 8 Stanford Defeats No. 39 Fresno State 5-2

STANFORD, Calif. - The eighth-ranked Stanford men's tennis team put up its 14th win of the season today, defeating visiting No. 39 Fresno State 5-2 today at Taube Tennis Stadium on The Farm.

The Cardinal swept doubles easily, winning 8-3 at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions and 8-4 at No. 2 to take the first point of the match. Stanford then went on to win three straight singles matches to solidify the victory.

No. 50 freshman Bradley Klahn made it 2-0 as he cruised to a victory over No. 64 Rudolf Siwy, 7-5, 6-1, while Ted Kelly took care of business at No. 6 with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Taylor Leiby 7-6(4), 6-4. Freshman Ryan Thacher was credited with the clinching win, as he took down Mirko Zapletal 6-3, 1-6, 7-5. Senior Blake Muller also won at the No. 4 position, earning a three-set victory over Tejesvi Veerepalli, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

The Cardinal will resume Pac-10 play later this week, taking on Oregon in Eugene at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, April 10.
