Baseball Beavers Still Moving Up In Polls; Announce Another Time Change
April 13, 2009
CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State baseball team, after taking 2-of-3 from Arizona, is moving up in the national polls again. And on Monday, the Beavers announced yet another time change to the 2009 schedule, involving the regular season finale at Stanford.
That game, Sunday, May 24 at Sunken Diamond, is now scheduled for 12 p.m. PT. That game, which is the finale of a three-game series, marks the end of the regular season for the Beavers.
On Monday, OSU also learned it had jumped a number of spots in a handful of the national polls. Baseball America ranks the Beavers 14th this week, up two spots from last week's ranking of No. 16.
Rivals.com and Collegiate Baseball both have the Beavers at No. 16 as they prepare to play BYU Monday and Tuesday. A week ago, Oregon State was ranked 20th by Rivals.com while Collegiate Baseball had the Beavers at No. 17.
Two other national polls, USA Today and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) have yet to be announced.
The two-game midweek series against BYU starts a busy week for the Beavers, who come in with a 20-7 overall record and 7-2 mark in Pacific-10 Conference play. OSU plays host to USC beginning Friday night at 5 p.m. PT. Saturday's game is scheduled for 2 p.m. while Sunday's series finale is at 12 p.m. Please note that Sunday's game was originally 1 p.m. but is now 12 p.m. due to the Trojans' travel schedule.
Each of the five games can be heard live on the Beaver Sports Network with Mike Parker providing play-by-play. A full webcast of each game is available at Beaver Nation Online (osubeavers.com).
