WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- CALIFORNIA junior short stop Taylor Kelly and UCLA junior pitcher Megan Langenfeld were named the Pac-10 Player and Pitcher of the Week for April 6-12, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Kelly, a native of Santee, Calif., helped the Bears earn two wins over second-ranked Bay Area rival Stanford last weekend.  In the second game of the three-game series, Kelly hit a home run off of Stanford pitcher Missy Penna in the sixth inning to boost the Golden Bears to a 3-1 victory.  Kelly’s home run was only the fifth long ball Penna has allowed all season.

On Sunday, it was Kelly’s second home run of the weekend which solidified her as a hero for the Golden Bears.  After Stanford rallied back to tie California 6-6 in the top of the seventh inning, Kelly hit a walk-off two-run home run to win the game 8-6 and take the series against the Cardinal.  The junior finished the weekend with three runs, three hits, two home runs and three RBI.

This is the first career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor for Kelly and 62nd overall for the Golden Bears.

Langenfeld, a native of Bakersfield, Calif., threw the 100th no-hitter in UCLA history on Saturday against third-ranked Washington, helping the Bruins sweep the two-game series.  Langenfeld held the Huskies to just one hit in 16 innings and recorded a 0.00 ERA on the weekend.

On Saturday, Lagenfeld threw her first career no hitter, retiring the first 13 batters she faced.  The junior did not allow a ball out of the infield for the entire game.  Langenfeld struck out 10 batters on the weekend and gave up just one hit and one hit.  On the season, Langenfeld holds a 1.07 ERA and is a perfect 6-0.

Langenfeld earns her fourth career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor and 109th overall for UCLA.
