Bruins Blast the Ducks

EUGENE, Ore. - Junior Julie Burney homered for the third straight game and drove in four runs, while sophomore Katie Schroeder also left the yard, as the third-ranked Bruins defeated Oregon 9-2 on Saturday at Howe Field.

The Bruins improve to 31-8 overall and 6-4 in Pac-10 play, while the Ducks fall to 13-25 and 2-9 in league action.

Schroeder went 3-for-5, while Burney, junior Megan Langenfeld and sophomores GiOnna DiSalvatore and Monica Harrison each had two-hit games. The Bruins had 14 hits as a team.

Redshirt sophomore Whitney Baker started and improved to 9-2 on the year, allowing two runs and three hits in 4 1/3 innings with seven strikeouts. Langenfeld tossed 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, striking out two for her third save of the year.
