April 19, 2009
PORTLAND, Ore. – Freshman Casey Masterson ran the fifth fastest 800-meters time in Oregon State history on Saturday at the Lewis & Clark Invitational on Eldon Fix Track.
Masterson (Eugene, Ore.) finished second in eight-runner first heat running the 800-meters in 2:11.99, a four second personal best.
Sophomore Jennifer Macias (Hermiston, Ore.) led the way in the 1,500-meters for the Beavers with the fourth fastest time in a 42-runner field finishing in 4:44.07.
The Beaver had 15 runners participate in the invitational. Each runner was participating one distance lower than their usual event making it a “training” competition in preparation for the larger upcoming meets. Many of the runners hadn’t participated in their respective events since high school.
Oregon State track is back in action on Saturday, April 25, for the Oregon Relays in Eugene, Ore.
