2009 TUCSON ELITE TRACK & FIELD CAMP

AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA

JUNE 17-21, 2009

BOYS & GIRLS AGES 12 - 18

 

The Tucson Elite Track & Field Camp is more than just a camp…it will make you stronger, faster, and smarter, a better person and athlete!!

 

 

Welcome to the 2009 Tucson Elite Track & Field Summer Camp.  This Camp will provide campers with an inside look at how the Arizona Wildcats have established themselves as one of the top track & field programs in the nation.  This summer will mark the 3rd year that we have hosted a camp and we look forward to making it better and better each year. The camp will feature all events: sprints, all jumps, all throws, middle/long distance, and pole vault. From beginners to junior elite level athletes, campers will work with our highly trained & knowledgeable staff to become a better athlete in your event area.

 

Sessions will be staged in small groups to encourage personal attention and plenty of feedback. Experienced coaches will lecture on topics that include training, drills & techniques, plyometrics, motivation and goal setting, nutrition, weight training, and much more. CAMP INFORMATION

 

REGISTRATION & COST:

You must download the registration form and parental authorization form and send them in by mail. You may pay with a check or pay with a debit/credit card.  Once the registration form is received and if you wish to pay via credit/debit card by checking the box on the registration form, you will receive an invoice via email…payment will have to be made in full.

 

OVERNIGHT CAMPER REGISTRATION FEE ~ $475.00

Housing and meals will be provided from time of check-in until time of check-out.

 

COMMUTER CAMPER FEE ~ $275.00

Housing will not be provided.  Lunch only will be provided. There is an option available for breakfast and/or dinner for $75.00.  This will cover the cost of breakfast & dinners for the duration of the camp.

 

 

ELIGIBILITY:

Camp is for boys and girls between the ages of 12-18 years old and is open to all entrants, of all skill levels and will only be limited by number, age and/or grade level.

 

 

WHAT DORM ARE THE CAMPERS STAYING IN?

All campers will be housed two to a room in one of Arizona’s modern dormitories. Boys and girls will be separated and under the supervision of the staff members living on the floor. If you have a roommate preference, note this on your enrollment application as roommate assignments will be made PRIOR to registration. Campers must also bring their own blankets, pillows, and towels.  A small refrigerator is provided in each room, by the University. CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT PROCEEDURES:

Campers will check in Wednesday, June 17, 2009 starting at 10:00am until 11:30am at the Pueblo De La Cienega.  Camp orientation will begin at 12:00pm at McKale Memorial Center. The camp Check-out will be on Sunday, June 21, 2009 at 4:00pm at Pueblo De La Cienega. Camp daily schedule will be posted at a later date.

 

INSURANCE & MEDICAL INFORMATION:

Campers must provide their own medical insurance. A first aid responder will be on duty at all times and team doctors will be on call. Because of the rigorous daily schedule, each camper should come to camp in good physical condition. Every conceivable effort is made to protect the camper’s health and safety through the training of our staff, constant inspection of equipment and instruction of campers. However the camp staff assumes no responsibility for accidents or illness. 

 

PARENTAL AUTHORIZATION FORM;

In the interest of the camper’s health and safety, we require a parental permission slip. You can download the Parental Authorization form and the Medical Waiver form and mail it in with the camp registration form. All registration forms must have a Medical Authorization form with it in order to participate in the camp. 

 

MEALS & TRANSPORTATION:

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided to all overnight campers. Commuter campers will receive lunch only, with an option to purchase additional meals for $75.00.  This cost will cover breakfast & dinner for the duration of the camp.

 

Transportation is available to/from airport, track, and activities. Pick Up Service: We will furnish transportation to and from campus to anyone arriving or leaving Tucson by bus or airplane. You must notify us by filling out the transportation information on the registration form.  If you are unsure of your travel plans prior to sending in the registration form, you must notify us in writing one week prior to camp via email, mail or phone.

 

WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP??

v      Campers will have to provide all of their own bed linens (including pillow). Rooms are double occupancy with twin beds.

v      Alarm clock

v      Personal Toilet articles

v      Practice gear, shorts, shoes, sunscreen and toiletries.

v      Bring specialty shoes, if you have them.

v      Warm-up gear (sweat pants and sweat shirt)

v      Casual clothes (jeans, shorts, shirts, etc.)

v      Backpack or sports bag for practice gear

v      Additional Money

v      Snacks & Water Bottle

PARKING:

Parents and campers are responsible for obtaining a parking pass if bringing a vehicle to camp. If parking your car for more than 15 minutes at any time, you must purchase a parking pass. There are lots close to the dorms and Mckale. For parking permits, call 520-621-3710. RESIDENT CAMPERS INFORMATION:

v      Quiet hours 9pm – 9am ( Do not disturb other guests in the building)

v      Never walk alone - always stay with at least one other person

v      Curfew – you will be in your own rooms by 10:30 p.m.

v      Lights out by 11:00 p.m. (have enough rest to get the most out of the camp sessions)

v      No alcohol, no smoking, no drugs. If you are caught using or in possession of any of these, you will be sent home immediately.

v      No boys in girls’ rooms / no girls in boys’ rooms.

v      Always let your dorm coach know where you are.

v      Keep doors locked at all times (even if out for a minute).

v      Lost keys cost $50.00. Payable upon checkout or sooner (if replacement).

v      Lost entrance key or card will be $35.00. Payable upon checkout or sooner (if replacement).

v      You and your roommate are responsible for all damage. Please check your room at check-in and let the staff know of any damage at once. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE -- REPORT IT!

v      Make sure to remove ALL trash from your room prior to checking out.

v      Do not make changes in room assignments on your own. There are two campers per room. This is a fire marshals decision please comply.

v      There will be staff staying in the dorm for supervision throughout the camp.

v      Switchboard hours are generally 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.

v      Parents are not allowed to enter the dorm unless accompanied by a camper. The front desk will be instructed to uphold this rule.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS:

There is a fee of $75 per person for cancellations. Written request for cancellation must be received more than 15 days prior to the first day of camp to qualify for a refund. No refunds are issued for requests received les than 15 days before the start of camp. Camps are not pro-rated and participant substitutions are not allowed.

* No refunds are given to campers dismissed from camp for inappropriate behavior!!!

 

 

COACHES CLINIC:

We will have a coaches’ clinic along with the Tucson Elite Track & Field Camp.  We would like to invite all coaches to come out and sit in on each session and learn from the best coaches in Arizona.  Registration fee will cover instruction, handouts, camp T-shirt, and lunch. There is also an option to purchase additional meals for $75.00.  This cost will cover breakfast & dinner for the duration of the camp.
