USC Goes Long In 13-5 Win At Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES - Freshman Ricky Oropesa recorded his first career two-homer game Tuesday as the USC Trojans beat the Loyola Marymount Lions, 13-5, in a non conference game at George Page Stadium. Oropesa helped the Trojans hammer out a season-high four home runs with USC scoring seven runs in the eighth.
Grant Green went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI while Joe De Pinto added three RBI. Senior left-hander Anthony Vasquez threw seven innings, giving up two runs on five hits with two walks and seven strikeouts for USC (20-17). At the plate, Vasquez hit a two-run homer in the fourth.
Angelo Songco was 2-for-4 for Loyola Marymount (24-19) with a double, triple and three RBI in the loss. LMU starter Ramiro Carreon allowed five runs in six innings.
The Trojans broke the game open in the eighth after the Lions walked six batters (one intentionally). Green's three-run homer to left capped the scoring in the inning.
USC hosts Washington State in a Pac-10 Conference series this Friday-Sunday (April 24-26). Friday's game starts at 6:30 p.m. with a 2 p.m. start on Saturday and noon on Sunday. All three games will be broadcast with a video webcast courtesy of usctrojans.com.
