Cal Baseball Drops 3-1 Decision to No. 2-ranked Arizona State

BERKELEY, CALIF. - The California baseball team got an outstanding pitching effort from freshman right-hander Erik Johnson, who threw 7.1 innings with a career-high seven strikeouts, but the Golden Bears still fell to No. 2-ranked Arizona State, 3-1, Friday afternoon at Evans Diamond. Cal, which had a lead-off home run in the third inning by freshman catcher Chadd Krist's off of ASU's Mike Leake, dropped to 18-21 overall and 5-11 in the Pac-10. The Sun Devils improved to a league-best 30-8 overall and 14-2 in the conference.
