French Tied For 4th After Round 1 of Pac-10s

STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman Whitney French is tied for fourth-place leading the Oregon State women's golf team in the first round of the Pacific-10 Championship on Friday.
French shot a 1-over-par 72 on the day leaving her tied for fourth-place with 36-holes remaining at the Stanford Golf Course a par-71, 6148 yard course.
In the round French recorded four birdies and five bogeys en route to the 72, a career best single-round score.
As a team the Beavers are in ninth place after shooting a first round score of 309.
Sophomore Cara Freeman shot a solid round of 3-over-par 74 to finished tied for 13th.
Leading the tournament is No. 1 UCLA shooting a 7-over-par 291 and there is a two way tie for the individual lead with Arizona State's Carlota Ciganda and USC's Jennifer Song each shooting a 1-under par 70.
Oregon State will play the remaining two, 18-hole rounds tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. start time and the final round coming on Sunday morning beginning at 7:30.
