Wildcats Share 4th at Pac-10 Tourney

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Three members of the Arizona women’s golf team each carded 3-over par rounds of 74 to lead Arizona to a share of 4th place after day one of the 2009 Pac-10 Championships, Friday afternoon at the Stanford Golf Course.
Arizona carded a first day total of 298 to sit +14 in a tie with California for 4th position. UCLA claimed the first round lead at 291 9+7) while USC is one shot back and ASU sits two shots off the pace.
Sophomore Alejandra Llaneza was joined by freshmen Isabelle Boineau and Margarita Ramos with the lowest round of the day for the team. Llaneza was the only one of the three to record a birdie on the day, conquering the par-4 2nd hole of the par-71, 6,117-yard layout.
Boineau and Ramos nearly mirrored the opposite ends of the turn with a trio of bogeys to make up their only non-par scores of the day. Boineau went 1-over on holes 6, 8 and 9 while Ramos struggled just after the turn with three-straight bogeys to start the backside.
The trio are all part of a group of 8 players tied for 13th place on the individual leaderboard. Carlota Ciganda of Arizona State and Jennifer Song of USC are each 1-under par after 18 holes to share the first day lead.
Round two continues tomorrow morning with the first Arizona player going out on the 1st tee at 9:10 a.m. (PST)
