Women of Troy Come Up Big at the Charles River Challenge

The No. 11 USC women's rowing squad had an overall successful day at the Charles River Challenge in Boston on Saturday (April 25). The Women of Troy were facing tough competition in this trip to the East Coast, but performed well.
USC started the day off well with a win by the varsity eight boat in good conditions with a time of 7:06.1. The next closest competition was Boston University who came in with a time of 7:12.8.
The second varsity eight was the next to take to the water. Also came in first with a time of 7:17.5. The next closest competitor was Boston University who finished at 7:25.1.
To round out a sweep of the morning races, the varsity four boat finished at a time of 8:17.5, which was about 30 seconds faster than Boston University who finished in second.
In the afternoon session, USC was set to match up with No. 15 ranked Virginia and No. 16 ranked Harvard. In the varsity eight race, USC was just beat out by less than a second by the Virginia crew who finished with a time of 7:08.4. USC finished with an incredibly close time of 7:09.2.
For the second varsity eight afternoon race, Virginia finished in first with a time of 7:16.1. The Women of Troy followed in second with a time of 7:22.9.Finishing out the day, the varsity four brought a great race to the Charles River, winning the race with a time of 8:11.8. Harvard was next to finish with a time of 8:18.3.
