Football Season In Review

*Finished 5-7 overall, 4-5 in the Pacific-10 Conference.

*Tied an NCAA record with four defensive touchdowns in 34-9 win over UCLA on Nov. 28, as Paul `Unga returned a fumble for a score while Travis Goethel, Troy Nolan and Mike Nixon all took interceptions back to the end zone.

*Nixon tied for the Pac-10 lead with five interceptions on the season, and he finished with a team-high 90 tackles.

*Nolan had four interceptions, giving him 10 in his two seasons as a Sun Devil, and he scored three touchdowns on defense this year.

*Wide receiver Michael Jones led the team with 61 catches for 744 yards.

*Nolan and Jones were named Second-Team All-Pac-10 while eight other players received Honorable Mention.

*Team recorded first shutout since 1996 in 31-0 win over Washington State on Nov. 15.

*Defensive end Dexter Davis had 11 sacks, his second consecutive season with double-digit sacks, and his 26.5 career sacks ranks fourth on the school's all-time list.

*Quarterback Rudy Carpenter started all 12 games and finished his Arizona State career with 43 consecutive starts.

*Carpenter became the school's all-time leader in pass completions, finishing with 799 career completions to surpass Andrew Walter's record of 777, and he also finished his career second on ASU's all-time lists in pass attempts, touchdown passes and passing yards.

*Carpenter's 26 wins as a starting quarterback tie him for second in school history, behind only Danny White's 30 wins.

*True freshman defensive tackle Lawrence Guy had 44 tackles, two sacks and a fumble recovery return for a touchdown, helping him earn Freshman All-American honors from the Football Writers Association of America, Sporting News, PhilSteele.com and CollegeFootballNews.com.

*Kicker Thomas Weber made 19 of his 25 field goal attempts, and his 43 career field goals are the most ever by a Sun Devil in his first two seasons.

*Had two players selected in the NFL Draft - Paul Fanaika (seventh round/213th overall by Philadelphia) and Troy Nolan (seventh round/223rd overall by Houston).
