Freshman Natasha Marks to compete in NCAAs
April 29, 2009
Wildcat freshman Natasha Marks received an at-large selection to the NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships, which will take place May 20 through 25 in College Station, Texas, following the conclusion of the team championships (May 15-19).
Marks is one of fourteen Pac-10 players to receive an at-large bid.
In her freshman season, the Nottingham, England native went 12-8 in dual match singles, and was 19-10 on the year, and four of her wins this season were over ranked opponents.
“We are so happy that Natasha has made the cut to play in College Station.” Said head coach Vicky Maes, “Her big wins at the Pac-10 Championships last week really helped her make a high enough jump in the rankings. If she plays as well as she did at Ojai, she has the ability to do very well.'
“We were hoping to see Danielle in the Championships as well,” Maes added, “She barely missed the cut. We are disappointed to go without her, as Danielle has been such a great player for Arizona.”
