Men's Basketball Adds Moore to 2009-10 Roster
April 29, 2009
PULLMAN, Wash. - Seattle native Reggie Moore (Brewster Academy, N.H.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Washington State University men's basketball team next season, head coach Ken Bone announced Wednesday.
'Reggie is exactly what and who we needed to add to our backcourt,' Bone said. 'He's a multidimensional guard that can play a couple of positions. His ability to score in a variety of ways and also deliver the ball to others is what we were looking for. With the addition of Reggie, I really like our group of young guards.'
Moore (6-1, 175, G) played one year at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., under head coach Jason Smith. While at Brewster Academy, the team posted a 22-12 record and advanced to the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) semifinals, falling to Bridgton Academy (Maine), 68-58.
Moore graduated from Seattle's Rainier Beach HS in 2008 where he played basketball under head coach Mike Bethea for two seasons. In his senior season Moore averaged 13 points and 10 assists while the Vikings went 29-1 capturing the 3A State basketball championship. A two-time all-state selection, Moore was named the Associated Press 3A State Player of the Year in Washington in 2008 and was an all-league selection. He was named the 2008 Northwest Shootout co-MVP along with WSU rising-sophomore DeAngelo Casto after scoring 23 points and dishing out six assists as the Washington all-stars defeated the Oregon team, 108-105.
Prior to transferring to Rainier Beach, Moore played two seasons under head coach Phil Lumpkin at O'Dea HS in Seattle. During his sophomore season the Irish reached the 3A State final, falling to Seattle Prep, 47-37, in the championship game.
Moore joins an incoming freshman class that includes Anthony Brown (6-5, 205 SG, Spokane, Wash./Shadle Park HS), Brock Motum (6-9, 215, PF, Brisbane, Australia/Australia Institute of Sport) and Xavier Thames (6-3, 180, PG, Elk Grove, Calif./Pleasant Grove, Calif.).
