Men's Golf Places Third At Pac-10 Championship

Arizona State held off Stanford in the final round of the Pac-10 championship, scoring a 16-over par 1456 (375-362-356-363) to take home third place.

Knut Borsheim continued his consistent play into the final day, ending the event tied for 11th place, his fifth top-15 finish of the year. His 1-over par 289 (73-73-70-73) was a team-high for the contest. Also sitting near the top of the leaderboard, Jesper Kennegard (T13) carded a 2-over par 290 (72-73-71-74).

With the pressure on in Seattle, freshman Chan Kim shot a 2-under par 70, his best round of the tournament. Finishing at 4-over par 292 (78-71-73-70) and tied for 21st, the Honolulu, Hawaii, native solidified himself as a serious contender in the Pac-10 for years to come.

James Byrne, who placed third at last year's conference championship, had another solid showing, carding a 6-over par 294 (76-73-74-71) to end tied for 24th. Lowering his already scintillating scoring average to 72.56, Stephan Gross also finished tied for 24th with a 6-over par 294 (78-72-69-75).

Scott Pinckney completed a 10-over par 298 (76-73-73-76) to finish tied for 38th.

The University of Washington won the championship at 16-under par, while the Oregon Ducks took second at 2-over par. Stanford placed fourth, with Oregon State, UCLA, Cal, Southern California, Arizona and Washington State following.

The Sun Devils do not compete again until the NCAA Regional, May 14-16 in Daly City, Calif.
