Pac-10 Q&A: Stanford Golfer Angela King

On my iPod...Just about everything except classical. Anything by John Mayer and Jack Johnson are my absolute favorites.

What I’m reading...Books assigned by my Sociology professor in preparation for a midterm next week.

Love to trade places for a day with... and Why? Somebody on a beach in Fiji.  So that I could be on a beach in Fiji!

Favorite teams as a kid...Chargers, Padres, and Lakers

Super power I’d most like to have... and Why?  The power that Phoenix (Dr. Gray) has in X-Men where I can manipulate anything and control people’s minds because… that would be cool.

If you could compete in any other sport it would be... Anything that doesn’t involve running, so probably bowling even though I’m awful at it.

Favorite TV show... Criminal Minds

Favorite TV show as a kid... Tom and Jerry

What your sights are set on after college... Hopefully getting a job.

Describe the best hole you’ve played...and why? The 16th hole at Cypress. It’s so beautiful you almost don’t mind if you don’t make it over the water.

Favorite flavor of ice cream... Rocky Road

What is the best part of being on your team... The camaraderie.

Favorite school memory... Laying on the grass outside the dorms in the Spring and enjoying the weekend with friends.

If you could make the cover of any magazine, which one would it be? Why?...People. Personally, I feel like it’s more reputable than certain other magazines and I also really enjoy reading it.

If you could cook dinner for one famous person, dead or alive, who would it be? What would you serve him/her for dinner? Well I wouldn’t want to embarrass myself and since I can’t cook, so it would probably have to be a famous person I did not like. I’d probably serve them microwavable mac 'n cheese.

Gatorade or Powerade?  Gatoraaaaaade.

What is your dream course to play at and why? Augusta National just because on the television set at home it just seems so untouchable.

The sport you’re the worst at... Well I’m pretty bad at anything that involves running but if you put me in a swimming pool, I’d drown.

If you were stranded on an island, what are the three essentials you’d need to have and why?  Assuming all the necessities to stay alive came with the island, I’d say a forever charged iPod for entertainment, a friend for company, and the internet for when I got bored with the friend.

Something about yourself that others would be surprised to hear... I’m really shy.

Which of your teammates would you like to trade places with for a day and why? Mari [Chung].  Just to see the world from her point of view.

Who is your favorite athlete in a sport other than your own and why? Darren Sproles because he is athletic, talented, and on the Chargers. And I love the Chargers.

What is the best advice you’ve received and who from? “Relax!” – my mom

What is your biggest pet peeve and why? Sharing hair brushes. It’s a hygiene thing I think.

What is your favorite class that you are taking or have taken? Development Economics at Stanford. It was really interesting to finally apply what I had learning in Micro and Macro Economics in an interesting and also important, life changing way.

Greatest sports memory... Getting a hole in one during CIF my senior year of high school.

Name three words that describe you... Stubborn, eccentric, and fanatical
