Kocsor Wins UCLA/USC Hammer; Niemeyer Places Third On Women's Side

Senior Boldizsar Kocsor started the men's track and field team off with a win in the first event of the UCLA/USC dual meet, the hammer, while sophomore Jade Niemeyer finished third for the women's team.
Kocsor won the event for the third time with a five-foot season-best toss of 218-9. He previously won in 2008 and 2006. His throw moves him to seventh in the NCAA this season.
Niemeyer threw a big lifetime-best of 172-9, improving upon her previous best of 167-6. Freshman Brittany Borman finished fourth with a lifetime-best mark of 154-3, while sophomore Catherine White was fifth as she also threw a lifetime-best 153-11.
The men lead 5-4 as Kocsor was UCLA's only competitor, while the women trail 8-1.
The meet will beginning on Saturday at 11:00 am with both running and field events.
