Washington's Wallace Named Pac-10 Golfer of the Month for April

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--Darren Wallace of Washington has been named Pacific-10 Conference Golfer of the Month for April 2009.
Wallace, a junior from Langley, BC, Canada, won the Pac-10 Championship with a whopping four-stroke victory, and in the process led Washington to the team title.
Wallace fired an 11-under par 277 and was the only golfer at the Pac-10 Championship to score all four rounds at par or better as he went 70-72-65-70. The third round 65 was a competitive course record at Seattle Golf Club. In addition to his win at the Pac-10 Championships, Wallace was runner-up at the U.S. Intercollegiate at Stanford, including a Husky-record round of 63, and posted a top 20 finish in the U.S. Collegiate Championship. Wallace shot under par in seven of 10 competitive rounds in April.
Also nominated for player of the month honors were Tarquin McManus of Arizona, who posted two top-10 finishes in April, and David Chung of Stanford.
