Volleyball Wraps Up Spring Season with Sweep

Corvallis, Ore. – Senior Rachel Rourke (Queensland, Australia) and junior Jill Sawatzky (St. Andrews, Manitoba) led the Beaver attack with 15 kills each in Saturday’s Spring Match against Western Oregon.
Oregon State took all four sets in scores of 25-13, 25-13, 25-13, 15-11.
Rourke added three service aces to lead all Oregon State players with 19.0 total points. Senior Camilla Ah-Hoy (Laie, Hawai’i) tallied a double-double with 41 assists and 14 digs, while adding a pair of kills and blocks.
Defensively, sophomore libero Betsy Devich (Kirkland, Wash.) had a match-high 18 digs. And at the net, junior Kiersten Sambrailo (Watsonville, Calif.) had five blocks, including the only solo block of the match. Sambrailo also reached double-digits for kills with 10.
The Oregon State opens its 2009 season at the ASICS Classic in Fort Collins, Colo., at Colorado State on Friday, Sept. 28 against Cal Poly at 3:30 p.m. PT. The Beavers will host their annual Orange and Black Scrimmage to give fans a chance to get a preview of what’s to come on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 1:00 p.m.
