Hongping Li Named USA Diving Head Coach For World Championships
May 13, 2009
Longtime USC head diving coach Hongping Li was chosen as the head coach for the USA Diving's 2009 World Championship team while 2009-2010 incoming freshman Ariel Rittenhouse's role on the team was expanded.
Li, who completed his 10th year as USC's head coach earlier this year by being named the 2009 Pac-10 Men's and Women's Head Diving Coach of the Year, recently wrapped up a stint as the U.S. Coach at the Canada Cup meet.
Rittenhouse, who will be a freshman at USC in the fall, had already made the roster as a competitor on 3-meter. She will now also compete in women's 3-meter synchro with U.S. teammate Kelci Bryant in women's 3-meter synchro.
Rittenhouse got the nod for synchro following a two-day selection camp in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Nine divers had already made the team on individual events in February.
The World Championships are scheduled for July 17-25 World Championships in Rome.
