PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State University men's basketball head coach Ken Bone completed his staff with the hiring of Jared Barrett as the director of basketball operations and Tim Marrion as the coordinator of basketball operations, he announced Thursday.
'We are excited to have Jared and Tim join our staff,' Bone said. 'They bring camp and recruiting experience to the program, which are areas we would like to be strong in. They will also be assisting with administrative duties.'
Barrett comes to WSU after serving as an assistant basketball coach at Utah Valley University the last two seasons where he served as the head assistant working with the guards while doing all of the game scouts. From there, Barrett moved on to Eastern Oregon where he was named the basketball team's most valuable player following the 1996-97 season leading the team in rebounding while ranking second on the squad in scoring.
He earned his bachelor's degree in physical education and health from Eastern Oregon in 1998 and completed his teaching credential from EOU in 2000. Barrett and his wife, Aimee, have four children.
A 2006 graduate of Washington State, Marrion returns to the Palouse after three seasons as a member of the San Jose State University men's basketball staff having served as an administrative assistant (2006-07), assistant coach (2007-08) and director of basketball operations (2008-09).
As a student at WSU, Marrion served as a student assistant for the men's basketball program for three seasons under head Dick Bennett. With the Cougars his duties included the preparation of scouting reports, video coordination, film exchange and coordinating team meals. Marrion has worked as a guest coach at summer youth basketball camps in Northern California, Kentucky and Washington.
