Husky Volleyball Releases Its Fall Schedule

SEATTLE - The Washington volleyball team, which finished ranked No. 5 in the country last season, has released its fall schedule.
The Huskies kick off their season August 28 with a match against San Jose State at home, as part of a tournament co-hosted by Seattle U. Washington will also play Seattle U. and San Diego State in the two-day tournament that features matches played both at home in Bank of America Arena and across town in the Connolly Center on the campus of Seattle U.
The following weekend, September 4-5, the Huskies head south to regional rival Portland State for the second annual Northwest Challenge, featuring 2008 NCAA first-round team Portland State, Gonzaga and Boise State.
Two more road tournaments wrap up the early non-conference schedule. Washington crosses the country for the Tampa Twice Tournament September 11-12, facing a pair of 2008 NCAA tournament teams. The Huskies are slated to face 2008 NCAA second round team Minnesota on Sept. 11 and 2008 Sweet Sixteen team Florida on Sept. 12. Washington then heads to Texas for the UT San Antonio Classic to face UTSA, Rice and Middle Tennessee, Sept. 17-19.
The Huskies start their Pac-10 schedule on the road on Sept. 25 and Sept. 27 at Oregon and Oregon State, respectively. The Arizona schools head to Seattle Oct. 2-3, before the Huskies take a quick jaunt to Cal and Stanford, Oct. 9-10.
UCLA and USC come to Bank of America Arena Oct. 16-17, then hit the road for a three-match stretch at Washington State on Oct. 23 and the Arizona schools, Oct. 30-Nov. 1. Stanford and California visit Seattle Nov. 6-7 and the Huskies take their final road trip Nov. 13-14 at USC and UCLA.
Washington closes its regular season schedule with a trio of home matches, beginning with Washington State on Nov. 21. The Beavers face off with the Dawgs on Wednesday, Nov. 25 and the Huskies wrap up the season with Oregon on Nov. 27.
The first and second rounds of the NCAA tournament are slated for Dec. 3-5, with the Regionals following Dec. 11-12. The NCAA Semifinal and Championship rounds will be held Dec. 17 and 19 in Tampa, Fla.
